Functional diagnostics

Functional diagnostics - an important section of modern medicine that deals with the diagnosis of diseases of various organs and systems of the body and the assessment of their functional capabilities using instrumental methods of research. The data obtained with the help of functional diagnostics give a general idea of the state of human health and complement the results of studies to identify diseases.

Main purpose of functional diagnostics is an objective assessment, detection of abnormalities and the establishment of the degree of dysfunction of various organs and physiological systems of the body based on the measurement of physical, chemical or other objective indicators of their activity using instrumental or laboratory research methods. Functional research methods are widely used for the purpose of early detection of pathology, diagnosis of various diseases and monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment. Functional diagnostics is presented mainly as an independent cabinet, equipped with appropriate devices, devices and medical staff.

In health resorts of Belarus following methods of functional diagnostics are most actively used.:

  • Electrocardiography (ECG) - cardiac research method, which allows you to get an idea about the frequency and regularity of heart rhythm, the presence of arrhythmias, as well as the adequacy or deficiency of blood supply to the heart muscle (myocardium);
  • Echocardiography – non-invasive method of ultrasound examination of the heart. This procedure allows to estimate the volume, size of the cavities of the heart and the thickness of its walls, to detect the morphological changes of valves and other structures of the heart;
  • Daily (Holter) monitoring - method of daily ECG recording using a special device - the recorder, which the resting person wears during the day in conditions of natural life activity. The method is used for in-depth analysis of arrhythmias and detection of episodes of myocardial ischemia.
  • Spirometry - functional examination of the lungs, the main means of diagnosis and quantification of a wide variety of pulmonary disorders;
  • Densitometry - non-invasive method for measuring bone mineral density. Using the procedure, the calcium content in the bone tissue is determined, which makes it possible to diagnose bone mass loss (osteoporosis) at the earliest stages;
  • Non-invasive blood test using the Malykhin method allows you to get 150 vital signs of the human body without taking blood within 180-720 seconds. These parameters include both standard clinical blood tests, and many other important parameters that determine the condition of the person.
