Phototherapy — the method of physiotherapy consisting in dosed out influence at an organism of sick person infra-red, visible or ultra-violet radiation. As indications to phototherapy with primary use of infra-red radiation diseases of the support-motor apparatus, illness and a trauma of the central and peripheral nervous systems, some diseases of internal bodies, peripheral vessels serve, disease of eyes, ears, skin, the residual phenomena after burns and frostbites.

Infrared, visible irradiation is one of the simplest, most effective and popular methods. Usually, short-wave radiation is used, which penetrates the tissues by 4-5 mm. It stimulates regeneration processes in the body, has a positive effect on blood flow, enhances fermentation processes, relieves inflammation and has a general strengthening effect.

Ultraviolet irradiation is a physiotherapeutic method of treatment, which consists in exposing the human body to ultraviolet radiation. For therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, UVR is the effect on certain parts of the human body of an apparatus that reproduces UV rays.

Irradiation with a polarized light lamp is a gentle and highly effective type of light therapy with a stream of polarized light. Polarized light increases the activity of cellular enzymes, improves the functions of tissue respiration, metabolic processes. Polarized light also has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and decongestant effects.
